Idaho Pasture Piglet, Gilt Deposit
The Idaho Pasture Pig (IPP) is a newer breed of pig that is composed of the Duroc, Old Berkshire, and the Kunekune pig. These pigs are true “grazing” pigs and are very gentle in nature, have great personalities, are easy to work with, are smaller in size then traditional pigs, are great mothers, are able to live outdoors all year round, and can grow extremely well with a diet of primarily grass. We do supplement our pigs morning and night with a freshly-milled, whole grain feed ration.
The finished meat on this breed is an exceptional product and we know you will love it as much as we do! We currently sale IPP breeding female gilts at $500 ($250 deposit).
Idaho Pasture Pig Breeding Gilt Info
One of the benefits of this breed is their smaller mature size. Ideally, sows should mature out at 250-350 pounds. The IPP is a medium sized breed of pig that was developed in 2006 with ongoing selection to breed to the highest quality standards. We are very particular about our breeding stock, and the gilts are carefully selected for our customers. A few of the characteristics that we look for when culling is the head, snout and body confirmation. They should have a short to medium length snout with an upturn or dish on the end to allow grazing and discourage rooting. Our breeding females do have wattles on both sides. Wattles are not a breeding mandatory, but are desired by many customers. Just at the testicles are important on a boar, the underline of a female is important as well. When culling females and males, we look for evenly and well-spaced teats on either side of the underline and the more teats the better. We will do our best to get you a registered, high quality breeding stock IPP that exceeds or conforms to that of the posted breed standard.
Idaho Pasture Pig Breeder Pricing, Gilt
We currently offer Idaho Pasture Piglet Gilts for $500 with a $250 deposit. New litters born twice per year here on our ranch. We currently have 2 breeding gilts and 1 breeding boar. We take reservations on the piglets year-round. No deposit = no order. Your deposit is fully refundable if we cannot fulfill your order within a reasonable window or promised time frame. However, if you back out or change your mind, we reserve the right to keep the deposit.
Please note: Customers are responsible for paying any additional fees/costs for their pig, such as blood work, vet fees, and for health certificates for their particular state.
